01. When does this storyline take place? Fallacy RPG takes place in Harry and Co.'s seventh year at Hogwart's. The school, however, due to the events that took place the summer before, was delayed it's opening until the 1st of October. This is the date when the game begins, corresponding with the current date. For example, January 1, 2008 translates to October 1, 1997. 02. I don't understand the premise. Is the war over? The war as everyone knows it is indeed over. Voldemort is seemingly dead and for the meantime, his remaining followers have been keeping quiet. Just because the war that our characters once endured is 'over' does not mean there isn't another one closer than one thinks. 03.So then... Voldemort is alive? Yes. Voldemort is very much alive. His 'death' was staged, the result of a plan he had been plotting ever since learning of Harry's knowledge about the Horcruxes. How can that be? Because Nagini was not in fact the final Horcrux as Harry thought. Voldemort wanted him to believe such a thing in order to put his plan into effect. As far as the real last Horcrux is concerned? Well. You'll have to stay tuned to find out, won't you 04. Why are some of my favorite characters on the deceased list? Unfortunately in war, there are deaths. As far as determining which ones to use for this game, we based our list off of the canon deaths in the books from 1-7. 05. What is the purpose of this game? We created this game for a handful of reasons. First and foremost? We love role-playing and we love role-playing Harry Potter. If you're here, we're pretty sure you do as well. We wanted to create a game that was both social and dark as far as plot was concerned. Yes, a war is about to take place and gruesome things will occur, but often times players and games forget that we are dealing with teenagers and young adults for the most part. Schoolwork, gossip, and relationships are worries and woes enough without a war and they should not be forgotten. One of the reasons we created this particular premise was so that for a change, we can see how their lives are once the war is over (or at least, they think is over.) That said, that does not mean our entire game is without plot. On the contrary, if you've been reading, you'll see it's chock full of it. 06. Why isn't there a character limit? Most games have them. Why can one person play so many? We feel very strongly about the reason we do not have a character limit. Why should a player be limited to the characters they want to play is they are able to play them all equally and actively? The only reason limits seem to be set is so activity stays high. If you can juggle multiple characters and keep them active? Go for it. We don't find a problem with this at all.... as long as you do stay active with all of them. It does not due to post for one character every single day and do the bare minimum for another. This is the same if you have two or ten characters. Keep it fair to others who could be active with that character. | 07. What are the different communities for? We have three communities for Fallacy. fallacy_rpg is where third person RP threads will take place. We recommend threading them in the community, but AIM logs are fine and acceptable as well. All thread should be posted under a cut and be headed the same way: Who, What, Where, When, Rating. Please remember to add the rating and change it if necessary as the thread goes on. Risque situations are well and good, but not everyone may want to read them. fallacy_ooc is the out of character community where introductions, hiatus notices, and plotting etc. take place. The third community we have is fallacy_owls where owls between characters will be posted. These should also be under a cut. 08. What if I need to take a hiatus? We understand that real life issues get in the way all the time with role-playing and sometimes, a hiatus is necessary for whatever reason. While we know that sometimes they arise unexpectedly, we do ask that you let us know as soon as possible in advance, as well as your fellow players. Hiatuses should generally not last more than two weeks for any reasons, but some exceptions may be made. We do this for activity reasons and fairness to all playres. 09. My characters are getting any plot! What should I do? This should never be a question. There is always something your character can do. Have them comment on a journal of a person they may not talk to. Post an open thread. Anything. If you really are struggling, ask the mods for help and we will try to assist you however we can, but know that this is your responsibility. 10. I'm having problems with another mun. Help! We do not accept any disrespect for fellow players. If you are having problems with another player, we really suggest you try to talk it out with them first. You never know - sometimes this can solve everything. If you can't come to an agreement or the problem is not resolved, please inform us. 11. Can I hold a character? What about challengeing a hold? Yes, you can hold characters. Please comment on the master character list and let us know who you would like to hold, along with their PB. Holds will be for 48 hours. Challenges can be made on a hold and will also be granted 48 hours to get in their application before the hold expires. 12. I think I'm ready to apply! What do I do? Please be sure you've read over all of these questions and the rules and then fill out the application! It's that simple! Send it over to us at fallacymods@gmail.com and expect a response within 48 hours at the latest. 13. What if I have another question that isn't listed here? Please don't hesitate to ask us for help! It's what we're here for and we want to answer any comments or concerns you may have. You can always reach us by email at fallacymods@gmail.com or send the mod account a private message.
