rules
01. This is a social and dark plotty storyline. You must be open to varying degrees of sexual activity, drug and alcohol use, violence, etc. While there is no age requirement, you should act maturely and conduct yourself like an adult.

02. While everyone's writing style is unique, you should still be literate. Know the English language, know your grammar, and know how to apply both to your writing. Always use third person storybook style writing for threads, and first person in journals. A character's dialect should only be used for dialog, never journal entries. Be descriptive! Write in paragraphs, not blocks!

03. All characters should be well-rounded. They should have flaws and characteristics that cause them to stand out. Cookie cutter characters, also known as Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus will not be accepted here.

04. Be canon! We've all read the books and we can all get a clear picture of each character and his or hers personality. While everyone has their own take, you should try to follow what JKR has set in stone.

05. Please remember when making your character that you take into account when they were born when placing them in their year. For a seventh year student to have attended Hogwarts when they were eleven they would have had to be born before August 31st 1980 or after September 1st, 1979.

06. Slash is acceptable as long as it is reasonable. You should not create a character to solely use for slash relationships and only that. The same can be applied for all characters and orientations; do not create a character for someone else's character. This goes back to staying canon, if a character is implied as heterosexual and has been in heterosexual relationships, chances are he or she is heterosexual.

07. Your character's PB ( played by ) should match your character's age and canon physical description. A thirty year old is not a good choice for a sixteen year old character unless they look ridiculously young. Please try to stay away from stiff models and scene queens and kings unless they are tame or it is really necessary. Also using a PB for the sake of another character's PB (i.e; they date in real life, or have several icons together), is frowned upon.
08. We do not have a character limit, but be reasonable; everyone has their limits. Please be diverse is your characters' houses, personalities and gender (i.e, do not play all girls). If you are unable to keep up with all of your characters, you will be asked to drop them. While everyone has their favorite characters to play, sitting on them and not being active is unfair to others.

09. Activity is a must! A journal entry is required at least once weekly, and threads are required once every two weeks. Of course, more than expected would be even better! There will be random activity checks done, and if you have not posted in a time period of three weeks without notifying someone of your absence, you will be removed from the community and your character will be put up for grabs again. Activity helps keep the game going, and if someone isn't around, it's hard for others to move on and play. Doing the bare minimal is not accepted.

10. While we offer warnings and reminders, we should not have to hold your hand through the entire game. You join to play, not to be force fed plot and threads. Put yourself out there, make an open thread, offer to play with people you haven't played with before. Don't rely on other people to spoon feed you ideas. If there's already an open thread, put your character into it instead of making a new one. Play with people your characters normally wouldn't interact with. The point it to have fun!

11. There is a large difference between in character and out of character, we all know this. Keep them separate. You should never make ooc comments in a thread or journal entry unless absolutely necessary. There is an ooc journal for a reason.

12. Enjoy yourself! This is a game, have fun. Be open to new people, new ideas, and putting yourself out there.
